What do I think about when a client say's to me "I want to build". The first thing that comes to my mind is... do they know what they are going to experience. Are they prepared for the high's and lows and have they planned financially. I have been involved in many successful builds from modular homes to architect designed wonders. There is nothing like having your dream house built to your specifications. But if you consider this undertaking...better get it right from the start. Starting with a local realtor investgate land values, locations, zoning and building codes. Get an idea of the cost per square foot of the type of house you want to build. Consider the finishes and their cost...and factor in the infastructure costs from a driveway to a drilled well, waste system, electricity, cable/high speed. And when you have estimatedt the cost for this project compare it to exisitng home values. An informed decision to build is the right decision.And don't forget re-sale value when you build. A custom home designed just for you can take longer to sell. Enoy the research you will learn so much.
